Deciding whether to rent or sell a property can be a tough decision. There are multiple factors that may come into play.
If you are stuck, here are four things to consider if you are deciding to either rent or sell a property:
1)What are your goals?
Is your plan to retire? Are you looking for long-term cash flow? If you need immediate cash, then selling a property could be your best best. If you're looking for something long-term then you may want to consider renting.
2)What is your financial status?
If you are planning to rent you have to make sure that your income will be enough to cover your expenses. If you are planning to sell you want to make sure that the money you will be net will be enough to cover for your future plans.
3)Are you ready to be a landlord?
Being a landlord is not easy! You have to be responsible for many factors such as tenants, repairs, damages, rules/regulations, etc. It is similar to having your own business. Keep this into consideration, especially if it'll be your first time.
4)Is your property legal to rent?
This is very important. If your property is not legal to rent, then you may be getting yourself into a lot of trouble. To avoid this, make sure to check if your home has the proper permits and capabilities to rent. You may also call your local town to get this type of information.
